Declarations of interest

To receive any declarations of disclosable pecuniary interest in respect of items on the agenda for this meeting.

Exclusion of the public

Purpose: to consider whether to exclude members of the press and public from the meeting for the following item of business under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 and as amended by the Local Government (Access to Information) (Variation) Order 2006 on the grounds that: (i) it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 1,  and 2 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, and (ii) the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

Minutes:

RESOLVED: to exclude members of the press and public from the meeting for the following item of business under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 and as amended by the Local Government (Access to Information) (Variation) Order 2006 on the grounds that:

i.      it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1 and 2 of Schedule 12A of the Act, and

ii.     the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

Staffing matter (see confidential minute)

Minutes:

The committee was advised that, under the Local Government Act 1972, local authorities were required to give five clear days notice of a meeting. In light of the special circumstances, to resolve a staffing matter without delay, the chairman stated that he was of the view that the meeting should proceed without five clear days notice. The committee agreed with this view.
